PERIDONTAL TREATMENT
Gum disease is caused by the bacteria in plaque. If this plaque if not removed regularly it builds up and causes your gums to become red and swollen, a condition called gingivitis. This in turn can develop into periodontitis, which in its severest form can cause the gum next to the plaque to peel away from the tooth, forming a ‘pocket’. The tooth-supporting bone and tissue beneath this pocket is slowly eroded by bacteria, leading to abscesses, teeth loosening, and eventually, tooth loss.
Cesar offers periodontal diagnosis and treatment planning, being happy to provide non-surgical and surgical treatment, focusing on the management of all aspects of advanced gum disease. Treatments available also include correcting uneven gum line, covering unsightly exposed roots of teeth due to gum recession and the reconstruction of damaged gum and bone prior to dental implants. This treatment can all be carried out under IV Sedation for the more anxious patients requiring extensive gum treatment.
ORAL SURGERY
At Grovefield Dental Surgery we we have a special interest in Oral Surgery (surgery of the mouth and jaws) and accept referrals for this from other dentists within the local area.
The following procedures can be carried out under local anaesthetic with sedation if required:

SEDATION
At Grovefield Dental Surgery we provide intravenous sedation for anxious patients, or those undergoing prolonged surgical procedures.
Intravenous sedation is another way to help reduce anxiety in patients and make potentially stressful procedures more pleasant. The sedative is given through a small plastic tube placed into a vein on the back of your hand or inside your elbow. The sedative is given in small quantities, over a period of time until you are sedated enough for the procedure to begin. After the procedure, a short recovery period is necessary. The patient is monitored until we are satisfied that they have recovered enough to go home with their escort. Most patients have no or very little recollection of their treatment.
The effects of the sedative may be present in your system for up to 24 hrs, so it is important that you follow our post-operative instructions.
